Big Hearted Friends is aimed at integrating children into their community. The athletic director organizes team sports for older youth to provide them an opportunity for fun and socializing. There are currently both boys and girls team sports, including soccer and basketball.

At the age of 18, youth are forced to leave the orphanages and enter society. They are often effectively "kicked out" with no place to go and no experience with finding housing or employment. NOROC has recently expanded the Big Hearted Friends program to help 18 year olds navigate the transition from institutional life to self-sufficiency. NOROC has purchased a house used for teaching young men and women life skills, as well as housing them on a temporary basis after they leave the orphanage.
